This is a natural question when preparing for your trip. You are about to spend 3 days in nature with no access to any facilities and everything you eat or drink needs to be brought with you and packed out. The pontoon boats have limited space but with a little planning you can bring all you will need to have a comfortable experience on the river.
What Is Provided
- Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp pillow, camp chair, and ice chest.
- Two fishing poles are provided and we prefer you bring them back at the end of the trip.
- All bait and tackle is provided and chosen specifically for its effectiveness on this stretch of the John Day River.
- Tents are provided which accommodate 2 guests per tent.
- Camp table and all cookware and cooking utensils.
- Bug Spray, Toilet Paper, First Aid Kit
What to Wear and Bring
- Quick Dry Shorts or swim trunks, long sleeve fishing shirts work well (Columbia).
- At camp bring layers can get cold - Sweatpants, sweatshirt, jacket, rain gear, beanie (for sleeping can get cool at night).
- For the weather the closest town is Wasco or Antelope, OR can give a general idea if any rain expected. Temp usually a few degrees warmer inside the canyon.
- Aqua Shoes work well when launching and setting up camp then flip flops are nice to get out of wet shoes.
- Bring a wide brim hat or something that will cover your neck.
- Flashlight, Ear Plugs, Toiletries
- Sunglasses, Sunscreen
- Space is limited and needs to fit in a single Dry Bag. 30L works well.

- June 5-6, 2021 (Saturday & Sunday) is Free Fishing Weekend. So just need a two day license
Food
- Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are provided.
- You need to provide your own snacks and drinks. We will shop when you arrive for this.
- We will be off the river about 4:00 PM on the last day then drive out of the canyon and have lunch on the way home.
